II. The Cycle (2:6-3:6)
- Disobedience – “They did evil in the sight of the Lord”
- Oppression – “The Lord gave/sold them into the hand of . . .”
- Repentance – “The people of Israel cried out to the Lord”
- Deliverance – “The Lord raised up for them a deliverer”
- Repeat
III. The Themes
- The result of continual disobedience/sin
- God’s faithfulness to his covenant promises
- The need for an eternal deliverer
